BEACHES
People throughout the province of Málaga love the wonderful bays and beaches of Nerja. The coastal landscape is full of contrasts; the long sandy beaches of El Playazo beach, the more central beaches such as Torrecilla or the majestic Burriana beach.

There are 12 beaches in Nerja municipality:
-Playa de Maro. This beach has been voted as one of the best in Spain. Maro beach is simply paradise. There are hidden waterfalls, underwater caves and some of the best places for snorkeling. It is located directly east of Nerja city. Recommended!
-La Caleta de Maro,
-Playa de Alberquillas,
-Las Calas de Pinos,
-Playa El Cañuelo. This beach is right on the border between Málaga and Granada provinces. El Cañuelo beach is a fantastic family beach. The small, natural "nooks and crannies" here are ideal for diving in the crystal clear water, and the green surroundings make this small beach one of the best on the coast.
-Playa Playazo. Playazo beach is one of the largest in Nerja, and the furthest west. If you want to get away from it all, El Playazo is the ideal place.
-Playa El Chucho,
-Playa de Torrecilla. The beach in Torrecilla is one of the most popular beaches in Nerja, with bars, restaurants and all the services you want.
-Playa El Salón,
-Playa de la Caletilla. Just below the Balcón de Europa is La Caletilla beach, which many mistakenly believe is a private beach.
- Playa de Calahonda. This is one of the most famous beaches in Nerja, and if you buy a postcard or a calendar, you will almost certainly find a photo of this beach. Calahonda beach is right next to the Balcón de Europa and you must not miss this beach while on holiday in Nerja.
-Playa El Chorrillo
-Playa de Carabeo
-Playa Carabeillo. This is one of the most picturesque beaches in Nerja. Carabeillo Beach is a favorite for many vacationers. The place's exotic environment is due to lush vegetation, crystal clear water and fine sand. Gorgeous!
-Playa Burriana. Burriana is the crown jewel of Nerja's beaches. When people think of Nerja, they first think of Burriana. Not hard to understand why, when you see what this beautiful beach has to offer. Burriana is an 800-metre-long and 40-metre-wide lovely golden sandy beach. It is located at the foot of Calle Filipinas, a road so steep that it has been nicknamed "Heart Stop Hill". The beach is a sunny favorite among tourists, and the beach has all the facilities you could wish for on a beach; In addition to shops, restaurants and bars, Burriana has "everything": Sunbeds, showers, children's playground, volleyball courts, pedal boats, water ski, kayak and jet ski hire, diving center and parasailing. The beach also has toilets and a lifeguard.
NERJA CAVES
​Cueva de Nerja (Nerja Caves) is one of the largest stalactite caves in the world. The caves are a total of about 5 km long, and the largest stalactite is over 30 meters high.
The caves have ancient archaeological traces of people who have lived in the caves in various periods and used them as a burial place; it concerns cave paintings that show animals and figures and are 20,000 years old, in addition to other prehistoric finds such as bones, stone tools and pottery.
The stalactite caves were rediscovered by chance by a group of friends in 1959.
One of the large cave rooms has been used as a concert hall since 1960, and every year Nenja celebrates an international cave festival: the International Cave Festival, with performances from international musicians and dancers.
The caves are well worth a visit. It is recommended to visit the caves early in the morning before the tourist buses arrive. You can take "the little train" from the center of Nerja up to the caves.
MALAGA
Malaga city is a gem in itself on the sunny coast. If you want to experience the pulse of the big city for a day or an evening while on holiday in Casa Karma, you can easily get to Malaga city from Nerja. The fastest is of course with your own car or taxi - a trip that takes about 50 minutes. There are also frequent buses to Malaga from Nerja's bus station, and the trip usually takes between 70 and 90 minutes. Download the ALSA app and check timetables and buy tickets.
CAMINITO DEL REY
One and a half hour drive from Casa Karma, you arrive at the famous El Caminito Del Rey.
El Caminito del Rey (The King's Little Path) is a walkway pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ardales in the province of Málaga. The walkway had fallen into disrepair and was partially closed for over a decade. After four years of extensive repairs and renovations, it re-opened in 2015. It has been known in the past as the "world's most dangerous walkway" following five deaths in 1999 and 2000. You can visit this spectaculour walkway either on you own or order a guided tour,- in either way you will have to book your tickets in advance.
CORDOBA MOSQUE CATHEDRAL
About 2 hours drive north of Casa Karma lays the city of Cordoba with its world known mosque Cathedral. The cathedral is built inside a mosque, and it is the largest arabic buliding outside the arabic countries, worldwide.

The Great Mosque of Cordoba represents a unique artistic achievement due to its size and the sheer boldness of the height of its ceilings. It is an irreplaceable testimony of the Caliphate of Cordoba and it is the most emblematic monument of Islamic religious architecture. It was the second biggest in surface area, after the Holy Mosque in Mecca, previously only reached by the Blue Mosque (Istanbul, 1588), and was a very unusual type of mosque that bears witness to the presence of Islam in the West. The Great Mosque of Cordoba was also very influential on Western Islamic art since the 8th century just as in the neo-Moorish style in the 19th century.
Concerning architecture, it has represented a testing ground for building techniques, which have influenced both the Arabic and Christian cultures alike since the 8th century.
SIERRA NEVADA
If you could imagine skiing during the day and swimming in the Meditarainian in the evening, Casa Karma and its approximity to the Sierra Nevada is perfect! In 1,5 hours by car, you reach the spectacular mountains of Sierra Nevada, and whether you are a winter sports enthusiast, hiker, rock climber, or just someone who likes to explore nature, the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort offers something for everyone. The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort at Pradollano is the most southerly in Europe.

RONDA
A drive at roughly one hour takes you to the beautiful white washed city of Ronda from Casa Karma. Ronda is situated at a divided cliff 750 metres above sea level. You have views of the mountains from everywhere in Ronda. Ronda is one of the most famous white washed cities in Spain. Known for its narrow streets, greats views and famous arcitecture. In Ronda you will find Spains most photographed bridge, and the city has been a tourist attraction since the 60ies.
You will find great shopping, souvernirs, arts and crafts and great art galleries in Ronda. The city hosts many muesums and galleries. You will also find lots of out door restaurants in old historic buildings, and Ronda is perfect for both climbing cliffs and strolling in the city.

The old muslim part of Ronda, La Ciudad, is the most spectacular with its narrow streets. There are fantastic old houses and an old arabic cure bath one can visit. The church Iglesia de Santa Maria La Mayor was originally a mosque, and you can still see arabic inscreptions in the church. Well worth a visit.
